The easiest way to learn online programming for kids
Scratch Programming Course explained

IT industry has acquired a vital role in the modern world. We could not imagine our lives without online stores, apps, games and just webpages with articles like this one. It is crucial to keep up with the time and learn to code and program from as early as possible. Scratch is a perfect program for beginners. It was developed by experts from Massachusetts’s Institute of Technology (MIT) to let the young generation enter programming cheerfully.

Having learnt how to work with Scratch, your child will easily deal with more advanced programming languages like Python, C++ and more. In this post I shared significant reasons to start computer programming for kids with Scratch.

What is Scratch?

Scratch is both a programming language and online community where kids can create their interactive stories with animation and games. What is your kid’s favourite cartoon? Imagine how entertaining it will be for the kid to create his own online game with the cartoon’s characters. It is going to be enjoyable and, in the meantime, very helpful in terms of developing forward-looking skills that are needed in our technology-advanced society.

What kinds of projects can be created on

Scratch programming classes?

Scratch is a true magic wand tool. Projects of all sizes and shapes are created there. It can be absolutely anything; a fish that dances or the one that throws a dance party – depends only on you, the program will do it!

Some of the projects are games with their own characters and plot, interactive animation and presentation. Any character in Scratch can do several things at a time – move, turn, change his or her colour and so on. It helps young coders perceive any complex process as a combination of several simple ones. So, both programming skills and critical decision-making are involved.

What are the skills being developed?

Through the programming Scratch course, kids learn to think creatively, work collaboratively and reason systematically. A distinctive feature of Scratch in comparison with other programming languages is its user-friendly interface; the script with coding elements is presented in a form of Lego-blocks letting your kid combine ones in his own unique way and see what will happen. No pressure and error message. Only freedom and originality!

How do we teach kids programming?

Meanwhile a teacher is to lead, provide support and help. When a kid is confused or not sure how to approach an idea, the superhero is here to clear it up! Core algorithms, functions and other technical insides are taught persistently on our coding lessons; when material is learnt, the teacher gives a specific task to make sure that all the obstacles are removed from the vivacious way of programming. Thereby both individual and team learning is applied. In Kiddy School we pay attention to student-oriented education including conducting research, preparing presentations and receiving feedback.

Both online instructions and classroom are included in our virtual environment - students and parents can track learning progress and performance of a student. Our reward system motivates kids to do their homework. Small group format (3 kids in a group) minimize the parents’ involvement in the learning process - our teachers make sure all students are 100% on track and progressing with the knowledge.

From what age to start programming with Scratch?

The beauty of Scratch, as you may remark, that it is structured simply and convenient even for the youngest. In Kiddy School we teach Scratch to children starting from 5 years old! We believe, the earlier a child starts, the sharper his or her mind will get, not to mention fabulous career opportunities. Yet, there is no upper age plank. A beginner of any age is encouraged to try it. Especially with our super offer of free trial.
